What is Matcha
Matcha is the stone ground fine powder made from green tea leaves.
By drinking the entire tea leaf, you get all the amazing benefits of green tea.
Not only it is incredible for your health, Matcha also has great flavor. This complex flavor is termed umami in Japanese.
I love Matcha first and foremost for its wonderful flavor, and the amazing health benefits are an added bonus that allow me to appreciate it even more.
Matcha is also well known through traditional Japanese tea ceremonies, which are an accomplished art with a rich history, hundreds of years old.
Although I fully appreciate this traditional art form, I love to enjoy Matcha everyday, in a more casual way.
Please enjoy the simple process of making Matcha - it is very soothing and relaxing.

Chiaki's Matcha
My Matcha comes straight from my cousin Sawako’s family-run tea business in Kyoto, Japan.
Her family started the tea business over 400 years ago, and her Matcha is the highest grade—fit for the traditional Japanese tea ceremonies.
They use only locally grown tea leaves from Kyoto, and her husband uses a stone grinder to turn these leaves into fresh Matcha powder. Only 20% of Matcha is made with this hand- operated stone grinder in Japan and their Matcha is one of them.
This powder is then packed immediately to retain all the flavor and freshness.
I import my Matcha frequently and directly from her, to guarantee that it is always super fresh!
